In the current era of rapid development of the digital economy, data means competitiveness. As a cross departmental, cross regional,
and cross industry application, video surveillance has also become the lifeline of society, enterprises, and even family life.
According to data statistics, a total of 945 data security incidents were reported in the first half of 2018, resulting in 4.5 billion pieces
of information leakage. On average, 291 pieces of personal privacy data were leaked every second. The number of data lost, stolen,
or damaged increased by 133% compared to the same period in 2017. Numerous information security incidents have also become
black clouds in the clear sky of the internet, casting shadows on people's internet life from time to time.
Enterprise Collaborative Policy Standards Assist in Public Video Surveillance Information Security
With the construction and implementation of projects such as Ping An City and Xueliang Project, the network scale of video
surveillance systems is becoming increasingly large, and more and more enterprises are participating. Ensuring the safe
transmission of data and preventing leakage has become a common goal of everyone's efforts. In the participation of enterprises,
in order to improve the security of video data, the general public security video monitoring system is built in the way of "private
network", or in the process of data collection, the fragmentation storage method is used for sorting, etc., which controls the
information security from the transmission and platform.
In addition to transmission and platform, the information security of video surveillance systems also includes two parts: front-end
and user. When enterprises maintain network data security through network and transmission encryption methods, the introduction
of mandatory government regulations has made breakthroughs in the information security of video surveillance networking.
On November 1, 2018, the national standard GB35114-2017 "Technical Requirements for Public Safety Video Surveillance Networking
Information Security" was officially implemented. This is the first technical standard in China regarding information security in video
surveillance networking. The implementation of this standard breaks through the limitations of traditional enterprise reform and
provides a comprehensive solution for information security in video surveillance systems from the system level. The content of
GB35114 effectively solves the problem of front-end camera identity verification, and prevents forgery, tampering, illegal dissemination,
etc. at the data level.
Overall, public video information security is progressing towards standardization and controllability. With the guidance of standards
and the emergence of new technologies, it will provide more powerful support for the information security of public video surveillance
networks.
The safety of equipment in the civilian market cannot be ignored
The establishment of video data security mentioned above is in a public environment, in other words, it is common in police work and
urban construction. However, with the development of intelligence, the number of home and civilian cameras is also increasing, and
the crisis of data information leakage also occurs in daily households.
At present, there is no unified standard for surveillance cameras in the civilian market, and the simple password login or WiFi
connection of home cameras cause frequent leakage of home surveillance information. To block the "black hole" of home photography,
multiple approaches are needed, and both manufacturers and users need to respond, which is a process that requires long-term
regulation and elimination. Of course, brand companies such as Hikvision and Hanbang High Tech in the market have also ensured the
control of home security information through national security algorithm data encryption, transmission channels, and other aspects to
improve home data security.
In addition to further management during device transmission and acquisition, the security of the device itself is also an important
part of data security. Including GB35114, the focus on management is mainly on the data channel, and the emphasis on the security
issues of front-end devices itself is not reflected. Whether the chip operating system inside the camera will be attacked is also a
consideration for improving information security.
Conclusion: The wider the coverage of video surveillance, the greater the challenge to data and information security. The information
security situation is a long-term goal, whether in the field of civilian or public security. While information security brings challenges, it
will also stimulate the innovative vitality of enterprises in security products and accelerate the development of industry information
security.
